Create a Shortcut or Hotkey for the Safely Remove Hardware Dialog

If you often use removable USB devices like a flash drive, you are probably already familiar with the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon that sits in the system tray. The problem for many people is that the icon is tiny, and clicking it just right to bring up the menu is a pain. But don't worry, you can make a shortcut for this. For this do the following step
  • Right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose New > Shortcut:
  • Write 'RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll' in the location box.
  • Give it a name, and you’ll have a shortcut icon that will pull up the Safely Remove Hardware dialog.
Now when you want to remove a USB device just double click in the short cut icon and easily remove the device.

If you want to assign a shortcut key to this dialog, you can right-click the icon and open the properties dialog, then go to the Shortcut tab.Add in the shortcut key and close the dialog. As long as the shortcut is on your desktop you shouldn’t have to restart anything for the hotkey to work. You can also move the shortcut to another folder, for instance your quick launch bar.

Disable indexing option to free up Ram

Indexing option is a little program that uses large amounts of Ram and can often make a computer slower. This system process indexes and updates lists of all the files that are in your computer. It does this so that when you do a search for something on your computer,it will help to search faster by scanning the index lists. If you don't search your computer often,or even if you do search often, this option is completely unnecessary.you can save Ram memory by disable this option.

Speed up internet up to 20%

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purpose like Windows Update and interrogating your PC etc.But you can get it back easily by following procedures.
First go to Start/Run and type gpedit.msc.Then press enter and you will see the Group policy editor.
Then go to Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/QOS Pocket Scheduler/Limit Reservable Bandwidth.Double click in Limit Reservable Bandwidth. It will say that it is not configured, but the truth is under the Explain tab that is by default the Pocket Scheduler limits the system to 20%  of the bandwidth of a connection. But you can use this setting by override the default.
So the trick is to Enable reservable bandwidth ,then set it to 0.This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.After doing all of this,Restart computer. It works on Windows 2000 as well. That's all...

Password recovery disk

Take preventive measures against losing user-level passwords. It doesn't matter if you never again remember a Windows user password. Thanks to XP's Forgotten Password Wizard, your conscience will be free and clear -- should your mind happen to accidentally misplace your user password. I highly suggest you create a password recovery disk the minute you create your user account. Why? In order to create a password recovery disk you're going to need your password. Write it down the minute you create your user account and then proceed to creating your very own password recovery disk. Here's how to launch the Forgotten Password Wizard:

XP Game Compatibility

You want to know if all your favorite games are still going to run under Windows XP. Remember what happened when we tried to run games on our Windows 2000 machines? Sometimes we were a little disappointed. Windows 2000 was made more for corporate applications than "Quake," but true techno-geeks know they don't have to sacrifice death matches for a robust business environment -- at least not anymore. Windows XP has shown an impressive track record of game compatibility. We ran a number of standard games, such as "Tiger Woods Golf," "NHL 2001," "Max Payne," and "Unreal" on our Windows XP Professional machine.
